These green grape caterpillars are easy to make and are a great treat for halloween. They look adorable and are delicious even if your first reaction might be to stay away from these creepy crawlers.
Besides the edible ingredients, you will need long toothpicks. Personally I like to use the 4-inch bamboo skewers with the twisted knot.
Thread the grapes onto a toothpick until there’s no toothpick sticking out.
Mix the cacao powder and coconut oil in a small bowl until you have a smooth consistency. You might have to heat it a little to melt the coconut oil.
With a sharp paring knife, cut two small wholes at the top of the first grape to accommodate the antennas. Cut about 1 to 1.5-inch of the top of the chives and insert them into the wholes you just created.
Use a toothpick to create the eyes and nose using the cacao and coconut oil mixture. This is the tricky part and you need to make sure that the grape is completely dry. As soon as you have the eyes and nose created, place the caterpillars into the fridge so the chocolate can set.
Notes
You can serve these creepy crawly caterpillars all by itself but adding some additional fruit and cashew vanilla cream will make it even a better treat.
