Store bought tomato sauce in most cases has a lot of sodium (and other preservatives), making your own is an easy way to control that and you have the freedom to add the ingredients you really like.
Ingredients
- 1 lb tomatoes
- 0.5 cup basil leaves fresh
- 1 can fire roasted tomatoes Muir Glen Organic - no salt added
- 3 cloves garlic
- 0.25 cup oregano fresh
- 1 tsp sea salt
- 0.5 onion half of a large sweet onion
- 3 jalapeño pepper
Instructions
- Boil the tomatoes until the skin starts to break (about 4 minutes).
- Add all the ingredients into a high speed blender. Blend until the desired consistency has been reached.
